The sage and the fool

"The wise man is untouched by a fool's foolishness. A fool is untouched by the wise man's wisdom." Andreas Mamet

No vision, no code...

"To have no vision to live for and no code to live by means to be truly lost."

The gap between experience and experiencer

"We identify constantly with every thought, perception and experience that comes along, utterly unaware that there is a perceiver and experiencer. We never focus on the gap and the difference. We never attempt to fall back and focus on the experiencer. Practicing that will bring freedom and insight into the true nature of our reality."

The awe-inspiring power of words...

"Most words we read in our daily life are aimed at making us do something, or buy something. Generally speaking, most communication is rather trivial. Unfortunately, this trains us to think that words are often trivial and not to be trusted.

However, words have incredible power in them.

When a Buddha speaks about his experience, those words actually carry the power to kindle that same experience. Therefore, to read the Words of Illumination, the Words of the Sages, should be considered an extremely important activity, simply because of their breath-taking, awe-inspiring power to convey Living Experience. Hence such words can trigger immense shifts in us, even when delivered thousands of years ago."

Our believes

"Let's look at our believes in a playful way and assess how much they connect us with the need to be right. Once we exercise this need to be right in conjunction with our believes, we have entered the path of suffering and isolation."

Let the Sun rise...

"Our desires and believes are like a fog within us, creating a constant veil that makes it impossible to see the true nature of our being. Only when the sun rises in our life will its powerful rays dissolve this fog and we will know who we truly are. May we be wise enough to call for the Sun and strong enough to let it shine on us."

Ready for take-off?

"If you actually reach the point of clear understanding that your consciousness is the most exhilarating dimension to travel, then the room you are in becomes the most dazzling airport on the planet."

Doing and Undoing

"You do and undo at every step. You want peace, love and happiness and work hard to create pain, hatred and war. You want longevity and overeat. You want friendship and exploit." Nisargadatta Maharaj

Wherever you go, there you are.

"Wherever you go, there you are." Unknown

This is actually hugely profound, even though it may not look that way. It means that even if you go to Paradise, you will take a long all your neuroses and your abilities to create a mess there also. So sometimes it is better to go into your inner realities, the ones you don't like, to look at them and clean them up. So that one day... wherever you are - you are in paradise.

The Journey

"What you need most for the spiritual journey is to discover the urgency. You need to want to find the core of your being as if it was an emergency. Once you activate this attitude, you will become eligible for the Precious Discovery.
Because if you do not have that kind of force behind you, you just won't have the energy it takes to go all the way. You need to be on fire with longing. With that you will get the motivation to move, not stop, not be taken of the path. And there will be everything thrown at you to get off the path."

Bitten by a sound bite???

Andreas Mamet
In the 80s I had a button that I kept on my jacket. It said: "I am trying to find myself. Have you seen me anywhere?"

"The problem with finding yourself is that you need mirrors. Once you get the mirrors, you will start arguing with them about what you see."

"The only reason why a wise man would make you laugh is so that he then can use the opportunty to put the medicine into your mouth that you would otherwise have refused to take."

"The challenge is to distill the essence of 5,000 pages from the Book of Life and turn it into a 3-sentence sound bite to bite you in just the right place to catch your attention."

On Missing

“A person who misses a chance and the monkey who misses its branch can't be saved” Indian Proverb

Remembering yesterday's reality ...

"The first thing we do upon waking up is to gather the memories from the day before. Thus we weave yesterday's reality into today. If we could intercept this process, we could create a quantum leap of experience and start brandnew realities today." Andreas Mamet

The exclusive Club of Awakening

"The Quest for Awareness takes places in an extremely exclusive club. In order to be in that club, your being needs to be on Fire with Desire.

It is not a snobbish thing, but you simply have to have a great passion. That is all. Consequently, this just really reduces the numbers, because most people do not reflect deeply on ... their own existence or have just not suffered deep enough." Andreas Mamet

No Shoes?

“I had no shoes and complained, until I met a man who had no feet.”

Indian Proverb

Follow Through!

“In golf as in life it is the follow through that makes the difference.” Unknown

Suddenly, out of nowhere a brilliant golden light arose in the center of the head
which quickly grew in intensity. Simultaneously there was a single thought
that suggested, "Fall back into its center."

I followed the instruction and fell back into its center. As I did, the golden light intensified. It expanded further and changed color and became a blinding white light. I followed this instruction several additional times until the light was everything that there was, an infinite presence of breathtaking bliss, and one could not fall back further."

Reading about awakening

"Reading about experiences of awakening is hugely important. Not only does it provide a deeply expanded vision of life, such books actually carry the power of transmission. If you are in the right state of mind (open and receptive) you can potentially catch the experience behind the words, in various degrees. If you have a great deal of meditation practice, they really can bestow amazing transmissions."

The Sages

"When reading the biographies of the sages, which should be a part of the discipline of any true spiritual aspirant, how could one not be overwhelmed with longing?"

Shadow Dynamics

"Every human being has shadows. If we refuse to acknowledge this and refuse to consciously face and deal with our shadows, there comes a point when those shadows externalize and become tangible in our direct life experience.

When this happens, our shadows have reached critical mass and will create situations beyond our control. The discomfort of facing our shadows will then pale next to the discomfort of the out-of-control explosion of the shadow unleashed."

Therefore, any substantial spiritual school will point to the existence of our shadows and say this truth: If you don't face your shadows consciously, they will dominate you and control your life in ways that will sabotage your efforts for happiness over and over again. So, when are you going to gather the courage and face your shadows, your fears, your anger, arrogance, guilt and shame?

Each time any of those emanations pass through you, keep a small notebook on you and write it down. Just make the shadows more visible to you. What will happen if you shed light on a shadow?" Andreas Mamet

The Ashtavakra Gita

The Ashtavakra Gita is an astounding text that is of profound depth. The mind will scream at many things written in it and misinterprete. Read this text like watching a sunrise or listening to Chopin. Just let the words seep into your being. They will do something. This is a free online version, the translation is by Thomas Byrom.

YES?

Some time ago I saw the movie The Yes Man with Jim Carrey. It was a great movie about a man who said No to most things that arose in his life and consequently was truly miserable. The thing was that he did not even realize how often he said No to life's situations.

Comes along a Guru that teaches about saying YES to life. As a practice, Jim Carrey's character now agrees to say YES to everything that comes before him, which creates many hilarious situations. The movie was extremely funny, but it did bring to awareness how often we unconsciously say NO to life, and say No to many things that actually could benefit us.

What the movie does is bring to light our continuous habit of saying No to life. It invites us to analyze our life and it asks .... What do you say No to in your life and why?
