The awe-inspiring power of words...

"Most words we read in our daily life are aimed at making us do something, or buy something. Generally speaking, most communication is rather trivial. Unfortunately, this trains us to think that words are often trivial and not to be trusted.

However, words have incredible power in them.

When a Buddha speaks about his experience, those words actually carry the power to kindle that same experience. Therefore, to read the Words of Illumination, the Words of the Sages, should be considered an extremely important activity, simply because of their breath-taking, awe-inspiring power to convey Living Experience. Hence such words can trigger immense shifts in us, even when delivered thousands of years ago."
