Cannes Journal

Yesterday the Film Festival opened its doors in Cannes, turning the town into the capital of illusion. But, we all know that illusions can be fun and the ones here certainly are. For weeks the town was abuzz with preparations. There were workers everywhere, cleaning, building, painting or pasting.

Yesterday afternoon, the beaches were lined with big tents, ready to receive the gods for wining and dining. The tents were surrounded by body guards, whose job it was to make a very menacing and dangerous impression. They did a good job at that.

As we walk by the Carlton Hotel, we notiec it has turned into a big advertisement canvas, with 14 huge posters of the "Ocean's 13" movie between its windows. I just had bought an Italian ice cream when Raylene shouted, "There is Jerry Seinfeld, on the top balcony of the Carlton..."

Yes, the circus has started, the gods have arrived and the feeding has commenced.
It is most interesting to observe the interactions here from an energetic point of view, to see the psychic interactions as they unfold. The crowds have lined up before the Palais du Festival, literally camping out to see the stars. It is a mutual psychic feeding ---- the crowds feed of the glory of the stars and the stars feed of the energetic quality of admiration from the crowds. It is very real.

This reminds me of a story that I have once heard. I have never forgotten it because it was one of those rare stories that give insight into the nature of glamour and fame and reveals why stars are addicted to their audiences and in fact, need them.
The person who told me the story explained that once he went to the concert of a very famous rock and roll band. Somehow, he got a back stage pass and so that was the area where he was. He mentioned to me that actually he was extremely sick with a very bad flu, but he went to the concert anyway since it was such huge event. He was onstage, just before the band was to come in. The area was dark. He decided to cross the stage quickly to go to the front of the audience. As he moved across the stage, he unintentionally caused some noise. This led the audience to believe the band was coming and they broke out in a huge amount of cheering.

My friend told me that when this huge energy began to hit his body, instantly all symptoms of being ill ---- disappeared. They disappered completely and did not return the next day either. He was healed by a giant psychic wave of admiration.

This story is important, as it genuinely reveals the underlying energetic realities in the relationships between stars and the admiring public.
